Health Care (Reading Between The Lines)

Posted: April 13, 2011 in Politics, poverty in canada, The philosophy & abstract thought of T. J. Therien

Anybody concerned about the Future of Health Care in Canada should read and understand this statement issued by Stephen Harper during the English Language Debate.
“This government is committed to making sure public health insurance is available to all Canadians, that no Canadian should ever be denied essential and necessary medical treatment because they can’t pay. That is a fundamental and necessary principle of Canadian citizenship,” Harper said.

Key words to recognize in this statement are Essential and Necessary. What Constitutes Essential and Necessary when it comes to Health Care. Realize that seeing a Doctor for a cold, or a back ache, or for any other reason other than Life Threatening Illness or Injury may be considered Non Essential and Unnecessary. Also Mr Harper kept talking about the Province’s right to explore Alternative Delivery of Health Care. There is only one Alternative to Publically Funded Health Care and that is a Pay System. It can cost an American between $5000 and $12000 a year to purchase Healthcare. The Words of Mr Harper are Predictive of Canada Moving toward a Failed American System. We have one of the best Health Care Systems in the World. Yes it can be Better, but not with Mr Harper’s Vision, or at least not with the ominous threat that looms in words such as Alternative, Essential and Necessary.
